The snow fell over the white lion's head as he struggled to move through the snow. The slight breeze in the distance ruffled his mane. Jacques stopped, turning his head below to glance at his surroundings. It wasn't easy being a patrol male in the Snowlands, as the conditions of the area made it difficult for the males of the Thelugi Pride to patrol, and even harder for the lionesses, including the queen's last born princess, to hunt. Many were dying of starvation and of hydration. Only Jacques himself and Princess Junile were the last remainders of what was once the biggest and strongest pride in the United Lands, but now, they were nothing.
Jacques continued on his patrol, noticing the African birds flying overhead, and the young ones trailing closely behind. However, something was off in the lion's mind. His nose wrinkled as he grunted, smelling the scent of a lioness.
"A cub?" Jacques whispered, his breath visible in the cold, wisp air, "Why would a cub be here in the Snowlands?"
The male parted his patrol and followed the scent of the cub, his mind filled with worry. Finally, he stopped, as the scent had vanished. Jacques then smelt the ground for the scent of his worried foe. He caught it again! Then, sorrow filled his mind as he realized his discovery was beneath the piles of snow. In a desperate move, Jacques used his paws to move the blankets of ice and snow away, revealing a grey lioness cub, only a few months old. He noticed the tail twitching, implying signs of life. He carefully grabbed the lion cub's neck scruff, and put her on his back. This was among one discovery that would change the pride forever.
Hello guys! It's been a long time since I've posted anything, so sorry for my unexplained hiatus. I've been extremely busy with school, Lioden, and dA. So, eh, yeah. This was just a quick drawing I did in MS Paint. And yes, these characters are new. I made them up a few days ago. However, their backstories aren't ready yet, so you'll have to wait a few moments until I get their character sheets up. XD
